But don't be concerned! You've arrived to the right location. With a fool-proof tutorial on applying eye makeup like a pro, we've got you covered...

Apply an eyeshadow primer—

An eyeshadow primer is another optional product, but it will assist your eyeshadow stay on for much longer. If you've gone without it, you've probably noticed that your eyeshadow fades or turns oily after a few hours and gathers in the folds of your eyelids. Apply your eyeshadow primer with your fingertip, mixing it from the roots of your lashes to the top of your crease. To make a great base for blending your eyeshadow, set it with a powder

Apply eyeshadow-

There are a variety of techniques to apply eyeshadow, but the most basic and traditional look is to cover your entire eyelid in a single hue. Apply your eyeshadow to your eyelid with an eyeshadow brush (or your finger for more pigmentation), starting in the middle near your lash line and blending outwards. To avoid harsh lines, blend your eyeshadow into your natural skin tone near your crease and the inside and outside corners of your eyes. Apply a second darker matte eyeshadow in a 'C' shape from the outside corner of your lash line up to the top, outside 13% of your eyelid crease for a more dramatic appearance. Finish by sweeping a lighter shimmer colour from the inner corner to the middle, mixing it in with the other colours.

Unless you're trying for a dramatic look, your main eyeshadow colour should never go all the way to your brow and should never extend further off your lid than the end of your brow.

Applying a lighter shade of eyeshadow on your browbone (the area beneath your brow but above your crease) will accentuate it. If your skin is pale, stick to natural tones like cream, sand, or white. Try a nude tint that is somewhat lighter than your skin tone. It's not necessary for the colour to be matte, but any shimmer should be minimal.

You can blend your eyeshadow onto your lower lid by sweeping it from the outside corner along the lower lash line. Blend thoroughly to avoid a harsh line.

Always blend various hues of makeup together if you're using more than one.

Apply eyeliner to your lashes-

The goal of eyeliner is to give the illusion of a longer lash line, so pick a colour that matches your natural hair color (or brown if you have blond hair) to go along your lashes. [10] Use an eyeliner pencil for a smudgy effect, or a cream or liquid eyeliner for a sleek and flawless finish. Create a full, continuous line by drawing a dashed or dotted line across your lash line and then connecting the dots. If you like, you can wing the end up and outwards a little, but otherwise, just follow your lash line from the inside corner to the outside corner.

Applying eyeliner to your bottom lash line should be done sparingly, since it creates a much darker/bolder look and appears a little more unnatural than applying eyeliner to your top lash line alone.

If you're feeling brave, try lining your eyes with eyeliner down the waterline of your eyelid.

Finish with mascara—

On finish your eye makeup, apply a coat of mascara to your lashes. Depending on the style you want, there are numerous mascaras to pick from: if you have short lashes, try mascara that adds length; if you have thin lashes, use volumizing mascara. Dip the brush in the mascara once and wipe the excess off using a paper towel or the edge of the container. Apply it on the top lash with upward strokes while looking straight ahead. Begin with the inner corner of your eye and proceed outward. Allow two coats to dry on both eyes. If you choose, you can also use mascara on your bottom lashes.

Wiggle the brush as you apply it to coat between the lashes rather than just the under layer.

Never pump your mascara brush in and out of the mascara, as this causes air pockets.

Applying more than two coats of mascara can mask the natural darkening effect and result in a cakey, thick look that is far less realistic.

Apply a coat of baby powder between coats of mascara to make your lashes look thicker; this will add a bit of length and volume to your lashes.
